Japan stuns Beijing in gold-medal win over U.S.

Japanese pitcher Yukiko Ueno was simply marvelous in the gold-medal game, tossing a five-hitter in the squad's 3-1 win. It was the first U.S. loss since Sept. 21, 2000, snapping a 22-game winning streak in Olympic contests.

Americans conclude round-robin with perfect record

Team USA routed China in five innings, 9-0, as the final day of round-robin play ended. Masterful pitching performances by Cat Osterman (3 innings) and Jennie Finch (2) shut down China. Also, the Netherlands recorded its first win -- meaning there would be no winless teams in Beijing.
